Dealer Invoice price:
Is This the dealers cost?
!!!! NO !!!!
Dealer Invoice price knowledge, In
fact, could work against you.
For years now dealers have been willing to show customers there invoices as an incenitive
to close a sale and make you think you have a good deal.
Customers are inclined to believe that the Dealer Invoice amount is the bottom line price
the manufacture charged the dealer for the car.
In many cases the invoice price is far from how much a dealer paid for a given car.
It's easy to find out what the dealer invoice for a car is.
Invoice prices are no big secret. They are available online from several auto-related Web
sites. While the information is good to have, it may not be as valuable as you might
think.
You can use invoice price as a starting point for
price negotiations.
Salepersons will say something like this to you: "Here is the invoice, see for
yourself how close we are to invoice price, we can't do any better. Then they will stop
talking, look you in the eye with a sad look and say something to the effect of "my
kids have to something to eat." Don't fall for this if you do they will be eating
steak in Cancun with your money.
On most vehicles it is very possible to negotiate a price that is lower than the invoice
price.
The dealership will get more money per car through manufacturer's holdbacks rebates and
incentives.

Buying at below Invoice on some cars is a great
price. But if you are not negotiating financing ,trade-in, Insurance and (or) extended
warranties you can still loose a lot of money.
Negotiate each part of the car buying process separately:
The price
The trade-in
Financing.
Insurance
Extended Warranty
Don't let a salesperson talk you into trying to negotiate more than one transaction at a
time.
